Mont Blanc via the Aiguille de Bionnassay 4810m in 3 days

Climb Mont Blanc (4810 m) via the wild Bionnassay ridge (4052 m), one of the finest routes in the range. This demanding line combines an airy ridge, glaciers, and technical sections, offering a magnificent and untouched approach to the summit of Europe.

Program

The day before – Welcome in Saint-Gervais
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the guides’ office. Meet your IFMGA mountain guide and prepare for the ascent.

Day 1 – Durier Hut (3389 m)
Start from the Miage alpine pasture, ascent to the Plan Glacier hut via the moraine trail. Coffee break, then passage over rocky spurs, crossing of the Miage Glacier, and ascent of the Lancherons ridge up to the Col de Miage. Night at the Durier Hut, perched on the French–Italian border.
Elevation gain: +1840 m – approx. 6 hours of hiking.

Day 2 – Aiguille de Bionnassay and Mont Blanc summit (4810 m)
Ascent of the Aiguille de Bionnassay (4052 m) via its south ridge. Traverse its airy snow ridge to the Piton des Italiens. Continue along the Italian normal route, pass the Dôme du Goûter (4304 m), then make the final ascent via the Bosses ridge to the summit of Mont Blanc. Descent to the Goûter Hut (3835 m).
Elevation change: +1700 m / -1100 m – approx. 9 to 10 hours on foot.

Day 3 – Descent from the Goûter
Early-morning descent along the Aiguille du Goûter ridge, return via the Tête Rousse hut, then arrival at the Nid d’Aigle. Lunch at a hut or in the valley.
Elevation loss: -1470 m – approx. 4 hours on foot.

The guides may adjust the program based on weather conditions, mountain conditions, and participants’ skill levels.

The ascent of Mont Blanc via the Bionnassay is an exceptional experience reserved for seasoned mountaineers. Far from the crowds of the classic routes, this itinerary stands out for its wild atmosphere, technical nature, and the elegance of its snowy ridge.


From the Durier Hut, perched on the col at the French–Italian border, the route leads to the Aiguille de Bionnassay and its famous razor-sharp ridge, one of the finest in the massif. The traverse then continues toward the Piton des Italiens, the Dôme du Goûter, and the majestic Bosses Ridge all the way to the summit of Mont Blanc (4810 m).

This three-day ascent combines technical commitment, glacier travel, and the pleasure of moving through a magnificent high-mountain environment. A truly exceptional climb to experience one-on-one with your guide.

Dates

From mid-June to September depending on conditions.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website or using the dated and signed registration form, accompanied by a 40% deposit and any optional insurance fees. The balance must be paid 60 days before departure.

Supervision and participants

1 person per guide. You will be led by an mountain guide.

Physical and technical level

A sustained ridge climb requiring solid mountaineering experience. Thorough preparation is essential for this ascent and it is intended for very fit individuals. You may be walking for up to about 12 hours per day, so you must prepare by training with long-duration cardio sessions. Endurance sports: cycling, running

And don’t forget that for 3 days you’ll be hiking with an 8-kilogram backpack, which significantly increases the effort required, so during your training outings make sure to walk with this additional weight.

You will be traveling on a high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac fall, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

Insurance

Repatriation

Having “assistance–repatriation” insurance is mandatory to take part in our trips: it must cover you in high mountains for search and rescue by helicopter. If you do not have “assistance–repatriation” insurance, we can provide one at a rate of €5/day.

Cancellation

We also offer optional “cancellation” insurance at a rate of €12/day. This insurance does not take into account the sporting nature of our trips. It must be purchased at the time of registration to take effect.
As a reminder, cancellation insurance covers you from the moment you register until the start of your trip if something happens and you cannot attend. We apply cancellation fees as specified on our registration form and in our terms of sale. These fees may be reimbursed by the cancellation insurance if your reason for cancelling is covered.


If you pay by credit card, feel free to check the insurance included with it.

As a reminder, in the event of cancellation you must file your claim with the insurer within 5 days of the accident or reason for cancelling, otherwise it will not be valid (then check whether the reason for cancellation is covered).

Insurance fees are non-refundable.
