Ski touring – full day

A full day dedicated to technical progression and discovering more committing routes. Guided by a mountain guide, you refine your ski touring skills: managing effort, reading the terrain, route finding, safety, and descent technique on variable snow. This program is designed for skiers who already have some experience and want to gain autonomy while exploring more demanding mountain routes around the Mont Blanc massif.

Program

  • Schedule: approximately 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Dénivelé : +900 m à +1500 m selon le secteur et le niveau du groupe
  • Total duration: 6 to 7 hours including breaks

Meet in the early morning for an equipment check and a refresher on safety techniques (avalanche beacon, shovel, probe).
The ascent is done at a steady but sustained pace, with exercises on kick turns, track setting, and managing effort.
Your guide will teach you how to anticipate snow conditions, choose the best ascent line, and identify safe areas.

The meal or picnic at altitude offers a welcome break, with grandiose mountain panoramas.
In the afternoon, you put into practice descent techniques on varied snow: adapting your turns, managing the terrain, and reading the snowpack.
Return to the valley at the end of the day, with a personalized debrief to refine your skills.

Example days

Routes vary depending on weather and snow conditions. Here are a few examples of typical intermediate-level training days:

Tête de Monthieu – +1050 m
A beautiful ascent through the forest, followed by steeper slopes leading to a magnificent wild viewpoint at the foot of the Dômes de Miage.

Aiguillette des Houches – +1000 m

A wild route offering a magnificent panorama of the Mont Blanc range. A varied descent alternating bowls, clearings, and wide open slopes.

Col de la Cicle 2,377 m – +400 to +600 m
A beautiful classic loop starting from the lifts in Les Contamines. Descent toward Notre-Dame de la Gorge, or re-ascent to the Col de la Fenêtre to return to the ski area. A small elevation gain, but superb slopes — sometimes fairly steep — and a magnificent viewpoint.

Tête de Combaz – +1250m

A beautiful summit facing the Mont Blanc massif, with a fairly long ascent through varied slopes that are superb to ski.
