Details

The First 4,000 m Course is an outstanding immersion into the world of mountaineering. Open to hikers and athletes eager to take the next step, this program leads you to the summit of Gran Paradiso (4,061 m), your first peak over 4,000 meters.

Supervised by a high mountain guide, you will learn the essential skills: roped travel, cramponing on ice, and movement on glaciated and snowy terrain. Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Mont Blanc massif and the Aosta Valley, this course will give you your first experience and allow you to calmly prepare for future ascents.

From the friendly atmosphere of the mountain huts to the magic of high altitude, each day is designed to combine learning, discovery, and the enjoyment of the mountains.

Dates

Group option: every Monday from mid-June to mid-September, depending on mountain conditions.
Private option: every day from mid-June to mid-September, depending on mountain conditions and hut availability.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website or using the dated and signed registration form, accompanied by a 40% deposit and any optional insurance fees. The balance is to be paid 60 days before the departure date.

Supervision and participants

Maximum 4 people per guide. Group departures guaranteed from 3 participants. You will be supervised by a mountain guide.

Physical and technical level

Good physical preparation is required for this ascent; it is intended for fit, endurance-oriented participants. You may be required to hike between 6 and 10 hours per day, so you should prepare by practicing long-duration cardio activities. Endurance sports such as cycling, running, or long hikes are recommended. Do not forget that you will be walking with an 8 kg backpack, which significantly increases the effort required, so during your training outings, practice hiking with this additional weight.

You will be traveling on an unmarked high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac falls, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

We are available to answer any questions you may have.
