Private Vallée Blanche descent

The Vallée Blanche is far more than a descent: it is a legendary high-mountain experience in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif. From the summit of the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m), you enter the fascinating world of glaciers: séracs, crevasses, silence, and breathtaking views of the highest peaks in the Alps. Guided by a mountain guide, you discover the most famous glacial descent in Europe — 15 km of off-piste skiing down to Chamonix, in a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.

Details

The Vallée Blanche is more than just a ski descent: it is a legendary glacier traverse between the peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. From the panoramic terrace of the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m), the view stretches from Mont Blanc du Tacul to the Grandes Jorasses, while the Mer de Glace extends all the way down to the Chamonix valley.

Guided by a mountain guide, you will cross the Aiguille du Midi ridge while roped up before putting on your skis on the Glacier du Géant. The descent unfolds in a magnificent high-mountain atmosphere, between séracs and crevasses, with the option to stop at the Requin Hut for a hot meal.

This 15-km descent is not a marked trail, but an alpine adventure at the heart of a unique glacial world. Every turn is made facing the great faces of the massif, in an atmosphere that is both serene and awe-inspiring. A suspended moment in the light of Mont Blanc.

Dates

From January to April, depending on snow conditions.
Group option: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The opening date of the descent from the Aiguille du Midi depends on the installation of the fixed ropes on the ridge (between early January and early February depending on snow conditions).
Before this period, we offer a departure from Helbronner (3,425 m) in Italy. For this version, starting from Chamonix, we take a bus through the Mont Blanc Tunnel: the descent from the top of the Italian lift system joins the classic route and the Montenvers train.
In this case, there will be an additional cost of approximately €15 per person.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website, by phone, or by email.

Supervision and participants

Maximum 6 people per mountain guide. Young participants aged 15 and over must be accompanied by a parent.
Group departures are guaranteed with a minimum of 4 participants and up to 6 per guide.
Depending on mountain conditions, the number of participants per guide may be reduced.

Physical and technical level

Have good physical fitness. You must be able to ski well in all snow conditions and on all types of terrain (off-piste). It’s important to be in excellent shape to cover the full distance. Do not underestimate the impact of altitude on physical performance. If you are unsure about the required level, feel free to ask us.

You will be traveling on an unmarked high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac falls, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

Other

Snow conditions

Snow conditions can vary. After several days of good weather, the itinerary becomes easier, packed down by the passage of skiers (possible presence of mogul fields). But after a day of bad weather, the snow may be deep, powdery, or wind-affected…

Lunch

Plan to bring a picnic or cash for the Requin Hut. The decision to picnic or eat at the hut is made the day before during the briefing, depending on the expected temperatures and the preferences of the majority of the group.

Transportation to Chamonix

Travel to Chamonix is done using the participants’ vehicles; the guide will organise carpooling the day before (it is customary for clients to provide transport for the guide). Please let us know in advance if you do not have a vehicle.
