Details

The ascent of the Aiguille du Tour (3,540 m) is one of the most accessible and complete introductory climbs in the Mont Blanc massif. In just two days, you experience full immersion in high mountain terrain, including glacier travel, rock sections, and an overnight in a hut. It is an ideal experience for discovering alpine climbing in a magnificent setting, guided by a professional.

The first day takes you from the village of Le Tour to the Albert 1er Hut (2,702 m). The route, aided by lifts, alternates between trails and high-altitude scenery. The afternoon is dedicated to a glacier school, roped up with your guide, to learn or refine essential techniques. This stage provides a reassuring first approach before the summit.

On the second day, it’s time to ascend the Aiguille du Tour. The route crosses the Glacier du Tour before reaching the final section, an easily accessible rocky summit offering exceptional views. From the top, the panorama extends over the Trient and Saleinaz glaciers, as well as the Swiss and French Alps. The descent follows the same route back to the village by the end of the day.

Accessible to motivated climbers, this ascent is an ideal first alpine experience. Guided by a high-mountain professional, it combines learning, the thrill of altitude, and the exploration of the Mont Blanc massif’s glacial landscapes.

Physical and technical level

Good physical preparation is required for this ascent; it is intended for fit individuals. On the second day, you will be walking for up to 8 hours, so you should prepare by doing long-duration cardio activities. Endurance sports such as cycling, running, or long hikes are recommended. Keep in mind that for 2 days you will be walking with an 8 kg backpack, which significantly increases the effort required, so train with this additional weight during your outings.

You will be on an unmarked high-mountain route, and you must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).
