3,600 m glacier snowshoe hike

Set out on a snowshoe glacier hike from Pointe Helbronner (3,462 m), in the very heart of the Mont Blanc range. Accessible and immersive, this unique experience leads you across the high glaciers of the Mer de Glace, facing a spectacular panorama of the Alpine peaks.

Program

The day before – Welcome in Saint-Gervais
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Saint-Gervais guides’ office to meet your guide, check the equipment, and prepare the outing.

Day 1 – Snowshoe Glacier Hike (3,600 m)
Departure from Saint-Gervais to Entrèves in Italy (50-minute drive). Cable car ascent to Pointe Helbronner (3,462 m). Snowshoe glacier hike across the upper glaciers of the Mer de Glace, at the foot of the Tour Ronde. An ideal and accessible discovery of the high mountains. Return by gondola, descent to Entrèves, and drive back to Saint-Gervais in the late afternoon.

The guides may adjust the itinerary according to the weather, mountain conditions, and participants’ abilities.

Details

The 3,600 m snowshoe glacier hike offers a first immersion in the high mountains in a magnificent setting. From Pointe Helbronner, you’ll travel across the glaciers of the Mont Blanc range, accompanied by a high-mountain guide who will teach you the basics of safe progression.
This route, with no technical difficulties, is ideal for discovering the atmosphere of high altitude: ice and snow landscapes, proximity to iconic peaks such as the Tour Ronde and the Dent du Géant, and spectacular panoramas over the south faces of Mont Blanc.
A unique experience, both accessible and unforgettable, for anyone wishing to savor the magic of the glaciers in winter.

Dates

Group outings: every Friday from December to mid-April, depending on conditions.
Private outings: daily from December to mid-April, depending on conditions.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website or using the dated and signed registration form, accompanied by a 40% deposit and any optional insurance fees. The balance must be paid 60 days before departure.

Supervision and participants

Maximum 6 people per guide. Group departures are guaranteed from 3 participants. You will be supervised by a high-mountain guide.

Physical and technical level

For people in good physical condition who practice snowshoeing. Elevation gain between 300 and 500 m. The high altitude may make progress more strenuous. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure about the required level.

You will be traveling on a high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac fall, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

  • Drinks, picnic, and personal extras
  • Transportation from Saint Gervais to Entrèves in Italy (it is customary for clients to provide the guide’s transport)
  • Everything not listed under “the price includes”

Insurance

Repatriation

Having “assistance–repatriation” insurance is mandatory to take part in our trips: it must cover you in high mountains for search and rescue by helicopter. If you do not have “assistance–repatriation” insurance, we can provide one at a rate of €5/day.

Cancellation

We also offer optional “cancellation” insurance at a rate of €12/day. This insurance does not take into account the sporting nature of our trips. It must be purchased at the time of registration to take effect.
As a reminder, cancellation insurance covers you from the moment you register until the start of your trip if something happens and you cannot attend. We apply cancellation fees as specified on our registration form and in our terms of sale. These fees may be reimbursed by the cancellation insurance if your reason for cancelling is covered.


If you pay by credit card, feel free to check the insurance included with it.

As a reminder, in the event of cancellation you must file your claim with the insurer within 5 days of the accident or reason for cancelling, otherwise it will not be valid (then check whether the reason for cancellation is covered).

Insurance fees are non-refundable.
