Crossing of the Perrons de Vallorcine (2673m)

The Perrons de Vallorcine traverse is an iconic rocky route in the Aiguilles Rouges. On compact, sculpted gneiss, the itinerary follows a series of small summits, climbing sections, and rappels, offering varied progression. The route constantly opens onto the Mont Blanc massif and the turquoise waters of the Emosson dam. This course is ideal for those wishing to experience a major alpine traverse combining approach, easy climbing, ridge rhythm, and a pastoral descent through alpine meadows. Accompanied by a mountain guide, you will follow an elegant line that is both wild and accessible.

Program

The day beforeArrival in Saint-Gervais
Meeting at 6:30 PM at the Saint-Gervais Guides’ Office to meet your guide and prepare for the raid.

Day 1Perrons Traverse
Early morning departure from Saint-Gervais to reach the Emosson dam. We quickly leave the access path to the Perrons climbing routes to ascend grassy terraces at the base of the Aiguilles du Van. A few very easy climbing moves lead to the notch separating the north and south summits of the Aiguille du Van (about 2 hours).
Then begins a long traverse, climbing and rappelling the main summits of the Perrons chain: Grand Perron, Pointe Vouilloz, and the slender Pointe de l’Ifala (4 to 6 hours).
The descent continues through alpine meadows and mixed terrain, returning to the Veudale Gorge trail and the Emosson dam.

The guides may adjust the itinerary according to the weather, mountain conditions, and participants’ abilities.

Details

The traverse of the Perrons de Vallorcine, in the Aiguilles Rouges massif, is a mid-length rock route offering a true alpine atmosphere without excessive technical difficulty. The route follows a continuous line on solid, grippy gneiss, punctuated by short rock steps, notches, and distinctive subsidiary summits.

The ascent allows you to explore one of the most scenic areas of the Mont Blanc massif: views of the Emosson dam, the Valais peaks, and the Aiguilles Rouges. The route combines a quick approach, climbing sections in mountaineering boots (up to 4+), and varied rappels, allowing smooth progress along an aesthetic ridge.

Accompanied by a mountain guide, you will undertake a coherent traverse, ideal for those wishing to get started with long rocky routes or deepen their experience on ridge itineraries.
