Details

Multi-pitch climbing is the very essence of mountain climbing: multiple pitches, managing belay stations, route reading, and progressive commitment.

This multi-pitch climbing day is aimed at climbers looking to move beyond sport routes to discover longer, more sustained, and more alpine lines.

Possible climbing areas include:

  • Arve Valley
  • Aiguilles Rouges Massif
  • La Colombière Massif
  • Selected routes in Italy

Each outing is selected based on:

  • Your technical level
  • Your multi-pitch climbing experience
  • The weather conditions
  • The desired exposure and level of commitment

Possible objectives:

  • Multi-pitch climbing skill improvement
  • Route management
  • Belay station techniques
  • Rope handling optimization
  • Smoothness and progressive autonomy

Dates

Available throughout the climbing season (spring – summer – autumn).

Registration and payment

Directly by phone or email, as well as at our Saint Gervais office year-round and at the Les Contamines office from the summer holidays onwards.

Supervision and participants

Led by a state-certified high-mountain guide. Route selection adapted to skill level and conditions.

Physical and technical level

This day is aimed at climbers:

  • Comfortable leading at minimum French grade 5 (depending on chosen level of commitment)
  • Able to climb independently on top-rope
  • Capable of climbing at least 5 to 7 pitches
  • In good physical condition

Multi-pitch climbing experience is a plus, but beginners are welcome.

Prices

Climbing route prices vary depending on difficulty but are generally around €435.

Insurance

Insurance is not included; you must have liability and repatriation coverage to participate in these outings.

Equipment list

Personal equipment required

  • Climbing shoes
  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Lanyard + locking carabiner
  • Système d’assurage (type Reverso)
  • 1 to 2 personal locking carabiners
  • Lightweight backpack (20–30 L)

Clothing

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for climbing
  • Windproof jacket or lightweight down jacket
  • Fleece jacket (season-dependent)
  • Climbing pants
  • Sunglasses
  • Cap or buff

In the mountains, the weather can change quickly: bring a warm layer even in summer.

Hydration & snacks

  • At least 1.5 L of water
  • Light packed lunch
  • Energy bars / snacks

Technical equipment provided by the guide

  • Ropes
  • Quickdraws
  • Slings and anchor equipment
  • Collective safety equipment

Depending on the route

  • Approach shoes or mountain sneakers
  • Small aluminum crampons (if snow patches are present early in the season)

The meeting time will be arranged with the guide the evening before.
