Glacier Expedition – Tré-la-Tête Massif (3592m)

This five-day glacier expedition explores one of the wildest and least-known areas of the Mont Blanc massif: the Tré-la-Tête basin. Through huts and glaciers, the itinerary leads to three iconic summits: Mont Tondu, Dôme des Glaciers, and the famous traverse of the Dômes de Miage. Each day offers smooth progression, alternating open glaciers, rocky sections, and long snow ridges. Accompaniment by a mountain guide ensures coherent and harmonious travel in a unique high-altitude setting. A trip designed to fully experience the atmosphere of the Mont Blanc massif’s great routes.

Details

This glacier expedition in the Tré-la-Tête massif explores an authentic high-mountain environment, away from the main routes of the Mont Blanc massif. Over five days, the itinerary links several iconic huts and traverses varied terrain: glaciers, rocky sections, long snow ridges, and panoramic summit ascents.

The ascent of Mont Tondu, followed by the Dôme des Glaciers, offers a gradual immersion into a magnificent glacial environment. The final day, devoted to the traverse of the Dômes de Miage, is a highlight: an elegant, airy, and fluid line, with views of the Mont Blanc massif.

Led by a mountain guide, this trip highlights the coherence of the Tré-la-Tête area: a wild, technical yet accessible space, ideal for continuous progression in glacier mountaineering. A rich, balanced, and deeply aesthetic itinerary.

Dates

For groups: every Sunday from mid-June to mid-September, depending on mountain conditions.
For private bookings: daily from mid-June to mid-September, depending on mountain conditions and hut availability.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website or using the dated and signed registration form, accompanied by a 40% deposit and any optional insurance fees. The balance must be paid 60 days before departure.

Supervision and participants

One guide for 4 participants for the first 4 days, then 1 guide for 2 participants for the Dômes de Miage. For groups: departure with 4 participants.

Physical and technical level

Basic mountaineering experience is required (crampon use, roped walking). Good physical preparation is necessary for this expedition, which is aimed at fit individuals. You will be walking between 6 and 10 hours per day, so you should prepare by doing long-duration cardiovascular activities.
Endurance sports: cycling, running, and hiking. Remember that for 5 days you will be carrying an 8 kg backpack, which significantly increases the effort required, so train with this extra weight during your outings.

You will be traveling on an unmarked high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac falls, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

We are available to answer any questions you may have.
