Set off to conquer the Dômes de Miage (3669 m) on ski touring. In two days, you will explore a wild glacier route in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif, offering both a superb alpine ascent and a long, varied descent, all within a pristine high-mountain setting.

Program

The day before – Welcome in Saint-Gervais
Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the guides’ office. Meet your guide and prepare for the outing.

Day 1 – Conscrits Hut (2610 m)
Departure from the village of Les Contamines (1210 m). Ascent to the Tré-la-Tête Hut (1970 m), then cross the glacier to reach the Conscrits Hut.
Elevation gain: +1500 m.

Day 2 – Ascent of the Dômes de Miage (3669 m)
Glacier ascent on skis to the Dômes de Miage.
Spectacular panorama of the Aiguille de Tré-la-Tête, Mont Blanc, and Bionnassay.
Long ski descent via the Tré-la-Tête Glacier or the Armancette Glacier, depending on conditions.
Elevation gain: +1068 m / Elevation loss: -2460 m.

The guides may adjust the program based on weather conditions, mountain conditions, and participants’ skill levels.

Details

The Dômes de Miage (3669 m) via ski touring is one of the most beautiful routes in the Mont Blanc massif, featuring its iconic snowy ridge.

The ascent via the Tré-la-Tête Glacier to the Conscrits Hut sets the stage for a grand glacier climb. From the summit, the view stretches over the Aiguille de Tré-la-Tête, Mont Blanc, the Aiguille de Bionnassay, and the surrounding Alps.

Dates

From mid-March to May, depending on snow conditions.

Registration and payment

Directly on our website or using the dated and signed registration form, accompanied by a 40% deposit and any optional insurance fees. The balance must be paid 60 days before departure.

Supervision and participants

Maximum 2 people per guide. Group departure guaranteed with 2 people. You will be led by an IFMGA mountain guide or a guide-in-training.

Physical and technical level

For experienced ski tourers in good physical condition. Passages through cols and summits with some technical difficulties: experience in ski touring and mountaineering required. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure about the required level.

You will be traveling on an unmarked high-mountain route and must be aware of the hazards associated with this activity (crevasses, serac falls, rockfall, avalanches, very low temperatures).

€795 per person (departure guaranteed from 2 people)

Private rates:
1 participant: €1420 per person
3 participants: €1020 per person (2 guides)

The price includes

  • Guidance by a mountain guide
  • Half-board at the Conscrits Hut (dormitory accommodation)

  • Drinks, cereal bars, and other personal expenses
  • Your personal insurance
  • Your ski touring equipment
  • Your safety equipment: avalanche transceiver (DVA), shovel, probe
  • Transport to Les Contamines-Montjoie (clients typically provide the guide’s ride if necessary)
  • Anything not listed under “price includes”

Insurance

Repatriation

Having “assistance–repatriation” insurance is mandatory to take part in our trips: it must cover you in high mountains for search and rescue by helicopter. If you do not have “assistance–repatriation” insurance, we can provide one at a rate of €5/day.

Cancellation

We also offer optional “cancellation” insurance at a rate of €12/day. This insurance does not take into account the sporting nature of our trips. It must be purchased at the time of registration to take effect.
As a reminder, cancellation insurance covers you from the moment you register until the start of your trip if something happens and you cannot attend. We apply cancellation fees as specified on our registration form and in our terms of sale. These fees may be reimbursed by the cancellation insurance if your reason for cancelling is covered.


If you pay by credit card, feel free to check the insurance included with it.

As a reminder, in the event of cancellation you must file your claim with the insurer within 5 days of the accident or reason for cancelling, otherwise it will not be valid (then check whether the reason for cancellation is covered).

Insurance fees are non-refundable.

Technical equipment

  • Backpack with ski-carrying system and sufficient capacity (± 30/40 liters)
  • Lightweight ski touring skis with clean bases and crampons suitable for the bindings.
  • Climbing skins suitable for the skis and in good condition.
  • Ski touring boots. It is essential to protect friction areas (heels, etc.) with Compeed and Elastoplast from day one.
  • Ski poles with large baskets
  • Harness and locking carabiner
  • A pair of crampons
  • Avalanche transceiver, shovel, and collapsible probe
  • Ice axe

  • First-aid kit: Elastoplast, Compeed blister plasters, sunscreen, lip balm, painkillers, earplugs, personal medications.
  • ID, insurance certificate, health insurance card

You will meet the guides the day before departure at the Saint-Gervais Guides Office (43 rue du Mont Blanc, 74170 Saint-Gervais), located inside the tourist office in the village center, at 6:30 p.m. Please let us know if you cannot attend; the briefing can be done by phone.
