Program

The day before – Welcome in Saint-Gervais
Meet at 6:30 pm at the Saint-Gervais guides’ office to meet your guide and go over the details of the climb.

Day1 – Pointe Percée ascent (2752 m) – arête du doigt

Early morning departure from Saint-Gervais to reach the Col des Annes above Le Grand-Bornand. Hike up to the Pointe Percée refuge (approximately 1h30) before continuing to the base of the ridge (1 h). The ascent begins with roped climbing, alternating rocky steps and easy climbing sections. We will reach the famous Finger, then after a rappel tackle the magnificent knife-edge section. A final steeper step marks the key passage before reaching the summit of Pointe Percée, where hikers from the normal route join. It is also possible to exit via easier chimneys, keeping this climb at a maximum difficulty of 4c. Descent via the south face on typical Aravis rocky terrain — perfect for refining alpine footwork — before returning to the refuge and then the Col des Annes.
Elevation gain: +1,200 m | Total duration: 8–9 h

The guide may modify the program depending on the weather conditions, mountain conditions, and the participants’ level.

La Pointe Percée is the iconic peak of the Aravis and its highest point. The north ridge, known as the Finger Ridge, is the most beautiful way to reach the summit and one of the finest climbs in the Aravis. It offers varied climbing on superb high-altitude limestone, including slabs, chimneys, and an impressive knife-edge ridge. Several exit variations are possible depending on skill level.
